08 Nov Meet Maren - Internship 2017
Truman State University
Major: Communication and Justice Systems
I am most excited to learn about a new culture and explore what it is like to work and live abroad. And definitely for all the new food we will get to experience! - Maren
Which groups/sorority/organization are you currently affiliated with?
I am a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, a national sorority and Funds Allotment Council, which is a group of students that give out university funding to student groups and organizations. I am also in Order of Omega, a greek honor society for undergraduate students.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
In ten years, I see myself working in the education field as an administrator, inspiring students and working towards getting my doctorate. Ideally I will have some kids of my own to inspire and embarrass along the way as well :)
What are some of your bucket list items/places?
One of my biggest bucket list items is to learn Italian. I've always been fascinated with my Italian heritage, and would love to explore the language and actually learn how to communicate. Another lifelong bucket list item is to travel the US on an epic roadtrip! I would love to drive across the whole country and get to experience all the wonderful different parts of our country with my friends.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments to date?
One of my proudest accomplishments happened this year, when I left my sorority to help plan recruitment for all the new wonderful women choosing to join a sorority. I was able to work with amazing women from other sororities on my campus, and it was truly life changing. While it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, it was also the most rewarding. Planning, developing, and implementing all of our thoughts and ideas to see them come to life; absolutely wonderful and one of my most cherished accomplishments.
If you could sit and have coffee with one celebrity dead or alive who would it be?
Meryl Streep! I am amazed by her talent and poise and would be so grateful to sit down with her and hear about her life. If I could magically have dinner with Amelia Earhart though- that would be even better!
